I am a member of sub-project A01 in the CRC 1053 (MAKI). This sub-project focusses on the systematic development of distributed and self-organizing adaptation mechanisms for communication topologies. I particularly conduct research in the field of local algorithms. These are robust and scale well with the network size. However, in communication networks, there often exists a trade-off between the degree of locality of an algorithm and the achieved performance. An interesting challenge is to control this trade-off with respect to given requirements.
